Balls

‘In the studio, I don’t do a lot of work that requires repetitive activity. I spend a lot of time looking and thinking and then try to find the most efficient way to get what I want, whether it’s making a drawing or a sculpture, or casting plaster or whatever.’ Bruce Nauman.

Inspired by Bruce Nauman’s studio film ‘Bouncing two balls between the floor and ceiling with changing rhythm (1967-68)’ Balls considers the art space of the computer, rather than considering the physical space occupied by the artist this work considers the virtual space of the screen by recreating one of Naumans activities, bouncing a ball, into one, two, and three frames of footage.
